Local Police
Around fifty vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Automobiles, walls and postboxes were defaced, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Law enforcement report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.
The substance had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then discovered multiple other marked automobiles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement say early analysis indicate the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no indication as to its source; investigators are presently not informed of any injuries in association with the event," they added.
Local authorities said they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have requested to the residents for information.
An important political figure said the vandalism made him stunned and needed to be solved promptly.
"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on online, referring to the death of nine people by a assailant targeting individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
